As we live our lives, we inevitably collide and conflict with the external world, yet we also experience spiritual disorientation when we encounter another self dwelling within. In other words, many people in contemporary society sustain an inner duality of the self. Thus, the personality or behaviour that appears outwardly may in fact be the result of multiple inner selves in conflict.
Ami Yoon visualises these inner wanderings and psychological tensions of herself and her contemporaries through photography. Her mental world, beyond the self that appears on the surface, conceals another form of self.
